OSU is committed to being a great place to work, learn and flourish; and to create and sustain healthy environments that enable community members to live productive, balanced and engaged lives. In an effort to confirm this commitment, OSU supports the use of flexible work arrangements (FWA) in situations where there is a mutual benefit to the employee and university. The "Guide to Flexible Work Arrangements" has information about FWA for both employees and supervisors.
The Family Resource Center advocates for and provides quality programming and services to all OSU families with dependent care needs to support the academic, professional and personal growth and success of the whole person. Faculty Candidate Interviews
In an effort to support work-life balance, OSU offers faculty candidates the opportunity to meet with Christina Schaaf, the Work-Life Coordinator, to discuss their unique concerns. Christina is available to answer questions about the availability of university and community resources, such as employment, dependent care, housing, or other issues related to the candidates’ needs, partners and families.
There are various resources for dual-career couples at OSU, from the ability to apply for internal postings, to accessing the Greater Oregon Higher Education Recruitment Consortium free job board to explore employment at other institutions of higher education within the greater Oregon and southern Washington region.
Work-Life Consultations and Presentations
The Work-Life Coordinator is available to meet with individuals and department administrators about their work-life needs, such as elder care, child care, time management, and work-life balance. Christina is also available to present to campus groups.
