Professional Faculty/Instructor Development Funds Guidelines

Purpose

Funded by the Office of the Provost, these funds are intended to support professional development for OSU professional faculty and instructors.

Awards

Professional faculty and instructors may request up to $1000. Funding will be awarded on a first-come basis. The total number of awards will vary each year depending both on the number and size of the requests received. In order to spread the funds throughout the academic year, $25,000 will be made available between July 1 and December 31, and an additional $25,000 will be made available between January 1 and June 30 of each year. Individuals are eligible for one award per 48 month period. Department heads, directors, or equivalent are not eligible for this award. Further, this is a "unit-matching" award, meaning the amount of each award will be dependent upon the amount that will be matched by the department or unit.

Criteria for the use of Funds and Award Selection

All funds must be used for purposes related to the professional development of the recipient. Applications for awards should include details regarding the type of professional development (conference, webinar, etc.) and how it will contribute to the recipient's professional growth and the betterment of the University. The review and approval process will be managed by the Office of the Provost. Applications will be reviewed to determine if they meet the following guideline requirements:

  • completeness of proposal information
  • availability of matching funds from the applicant's unit

Recipients of awards will be notified by the Office of the Provost. Questions may be directed to Amanda Ronay

Applications received after award funds have been depleted will be returned and may be submitted in a future funding cycle.
